5 Small Ways to Stay Organized

Life can get hectic—from attending work meetings to getting to the gym to keeping your relationships in good shape, a lot probably runs through your head each day. For many people, getting everything done can seem like an impossible feat. However, there’s a big correlation between organization and mentality: the more organized you stay in the smallest aspects of your life, the better you’ll feel in the bigger areas. In other words, the more you get little aspects of your personal life in order, the better your physical, mental, and emotional health will become. To get you on the path to an easier and healthier life, we’ve put together a few small ways to stay organized—check them out!

Make a to-do list

Each day, we spend a lot of mental energy trying to keep track of all the different things we need to do. To-do lists are one of the simplest and most common ways to stay organized and to feel accomplished in your daily life. They work wonders for prioritization and organization, and they’ll help you conserve that much-need brain power. Whether you use a different piece of scrap paper each day or a full planner, you’ll have to rely on your own memory less to remember important tasks.

Devote time for organization

Every day, you should spend about 10 to 15 minutes organizing, whether it’s your bedroom, your papers, your wallet or purse, or your kitchen. Taking some time each day to get things sorted can help you feel much more productive. Making this an important part of your day can help you feel organized and put together in other areas of your life.

Toss clutter

Another important small way to stay organized is to deal with any clutter that may be strewn around your car, bedroom, or desk. You can get rid of clutter in that daily 10 to 15 minutes or toss it as you go through your day. Physical clutter plays a big role in your mental clutter—getting rid of unnecessary items will create more mental space for other important things.

Make a pattern for your workflow

Our brains love routine, so the faster you figure out a solid daily routine, the less hold chaos will have on your emotions. Notice when the chaotic days tend to happen and try to spread out your work accordingly. Block out time on the less busy days to conquer some of the tasks left over from the busier days. These workflow patterns can do wonders for your daily organization.

Get your money in order

This may seem like a big task, but we’re not necessarily talking about finances here (although setting aside time to create a budget is definitely important). When we say get your money in order, we’re actually talking strictly about the way you carry your money. If your wallet is stuffed to the brim and money is crumpled in your pockets, consider switching to an ultra-slim wallet. Doing so will help you reduce the chances of clutter, and going cashless can help you stay much more organized in your daily life. This is a small task, but it goes a long way in helping you stay financially organized. Turn to Ekster for the wallet that’ll help you get your money in order—you won’t regret it.
